Objective

Stichting Open House Amsterdam promotes public understanding of, access to and appreciation of architecture, urban development, architectural heritage and the built environment.

The foundation makes these subjects accessible and relevant to a broad public through free cultural and educational programmes and direct experiences of the city.

The foundation operates exclusively in the public interest and does not pursue profit as an objective.

Activities

The foundation's principal activity is the organisation of Open House Amsterdam: a free annual architecture and heritage festival providing public access to architecturally, historically and socially significant buildings and locations.

Its activities also include guided visits, talks, lectures, workshops, exhibitions, educational programmes, publications and digital content, together with the recruitment and coordination of volunteers.

The inaugural edition is scheduled for 12 and 13 June 2027. The festival and its core public programme will be free of charge.

Since its establishment, the foundation has worked on its governance, festival programme, curatorial framework, cultural partnerships, fundraising, communications, education, public engagement and volunteer planning.

Main lines of the Policy Plan 2026-2028

The foundation seeks to finance its activities through a balanced mix of public subsidies, contributions from cultural and private foundations, corporate sponsorships and partnerships, donations and other income directly related to its objectives.

The foundation does not retain more assets than are reasonably necessary for its planned activities and continuity. Its funds are spent on its cultural, educational and public programme and on the organisational resources required to deliver it.

Management, fundraising and administrative costs are kept in reasonable proportion to the foundation's activities and programme expenditure.

In the event of dissolution, any remaining assets will be allocated in accordance with the foundation's statutes to an ANBI with a similar cultural objective, or to an eligible foreign institution serving the public interest with a similar cultural objective.
