Amsterdam,
from the inside

Most of us experience the city we live in from the outside - a facade passed on the way to work, a building admired from across the canal, a housing block we've read about in the news but never actually seen inside. Open House Amsterdam exists to change that, for one weekend a year.

On 12-13 June 2027, Amsterdam joins Open House Worldwide - the world's largest free architecture festival, active in more than 60 cities across five continents - for the very first time. For two days, buildings across every stadsdeel will open their doors, free of charge, to anyone curious enough to walk in.

This isn't a festival about admiring architecture from a distance. It's about direct encounter: walking through spaces you'd otherwise never see, meeting the architects, owners and residents who know them best, and understanding a little more about the forces - housing pressure, sustainability, migration, changing neighbourhoods - that are shaping Amsterdam right now, through the buildings where that change is actually happening.
